Location-List of the Oxyrhynchus Papyri

The majority of the Oxyrhynchus and other EES papyri are housed in the Papyrology Rooms of The Art, Archaeology and Ancient World Library in Oxford. However, in the early days of the project, a great many published papyri were presented to other institutions — from major research centres to boarding schools and public libraries. Some have been sold, destroyed or simply mislaid, but many can still be found there. On these early distributions, see e.g. W. A. Images of these papyri must be sought from the institutions in which they are kept. Some of them may be available online on the institution's website. Additionally, negatives and/or prints of some papyri from other collections are kept at Liège (CEDOPAL), Brussels (Association Egyptologique Reine Elisabeth) and Cologne (Arbeitsstelle für Papyrologie, Epigraphik und Numismatik).

Currently this section is a stopgap, being nothing more than a tabular version of the old Location-list of the Oxyrhynchus Papyri and of Other Greek Papyri Published by the Egypt Exploration Society (London 1974) compiled by Revel Coles, which brought together what information there was at the time on EES papyri that had been distributed to other institutions. Some of this information may now be out of date: for more up-to-date information, please check the entry of the relevant papyrus in Trismegistos. For details of papyri of which photographs are held in the Papyrology Rooms and in Liège, not included below, the print publication should be consulted.
